Sustain the Standard.
Ignite the Resurgence.
Building on 150 years of excellence, the Stewards of 1874 is dedicated to the total sustainment and competitive resurgence of Wisconsin Men’s Rowing. We mobilize the Badger community to drive two critical pillars of support: the Stewards Excellence Fund, which provides the immediate capital to execute Beau’s Project 2030 and the Wisconsin High Performance initiative; and the Legacy Fund, a $50 million endowment designed to sustain the program in perpetuity. By funding elite coaching, financial support for athletes, and a vibrant rowing culture, we ensure that every generation of Badger oarsmen enjoy the one-of-a-kind culture of Wisconsin Rowing and has the opportunity to compete and win at the highest level.
This is about more than preservation.
It’s about momentum.

two critical pillars of support
The Stewards Excellence Fund
Providing the immediate capital needed to execute Beau’s Project 2030 and advance the Wisconsin High Performance initiative — ensuring today’s athletes have the tools, coaching, and competitive edge required to win.
The Legacy Fund
A bold $50 million endowment designed to sustain Wisconsin Rowing in perpetuity — protecting the program for generations to come.
Through these pillars, we fund:
- Expansion of the coaching and recruiting staff with the Director of Wisconsin High Performance, Lowell McNicholas
- Mechanism to support high-potential walk-ons without impacting the roster caps
- Provide financial support to high-caliber athletes
- Events that strengthen the Badger culture and bring our community together
